Nas and Damian Marley’s Distant Relatives Zip File Some musical collaborations just can't be beat. Take Nas and Damian Marley, for example. The two rap legends come together for their sixth album to produce some of the most memorable bars in recent history. From incendiary anthems like “Welcome To Jamrock” to heartfelt ruminations on life, death, and everything in between, Distant Relatives is a masterpiece. This is not just another album full of forgettable songs. It's an essential part of any music fan's collection. This album's timeless quality is due in no small part to the beautiful harmonies between Nas and Damian. Take, for example, “Under The Influence” in which the two collaborators put their own spin on Bob Marley's ‘Catch A Fire’ hit. Consider also the soulful collaboration of “If I Have To” that delivers soaring vocals from both artists. Or perhaps “Distant Relatives Part 1”, which features Damian Marley producing an aggressive verse for Nas to go crazy with. And let's not forget the instrumental brilliance of album closer "Blue Ticonderoga". The laid-back vibe running through this album is one of its strengths. It keeps the songs flowing naturally, one into another. It's this smooth transition that keeps listeners guessing what's coming next. And this is an album that will be truly appreciated when played from start to finish, in order. It can be readily appreciated in individual parts, but when combined, the songs create an amazing listening experience. A lot of collaborations fall flat; they never quite meet expectations. But with Distant Relatives, Nas and Damian Marley create something special. Several songs were leaked prior to the album release date including "Count Your Blessings", "Road To Zion", "Bob Marley Fight For My Youth", and "Heroes". "Count Your Blessings" was leaked on May 2, 2010, "Road To Zion" on May 3, 2010, "Bob Marley Fight For My Youth" on May 4, 2010 and "Heroes" was leaked on June 29, 2010. Owing to this several songs were added to the final track list. On June 8, 2011 Distant Relatives won a Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year. On April 2, 2011 "Count Your Blessings" was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. On May 18, 2011 the song was nominated for the MTV Europe Music Awards in the category "Best Song". On June 8, 2011 "Road to Zion" was nominated for Juno Awards in the category "Best Rap/Sung Collaboration of the Year".http://www.junoawards.ca/nominees2011. cfa1e77820
